The Nuts...

Late Sunday, I decided to register in a multi table poker game. There were 346 players in the tourney. From the start I wasn't doing too well, until I tripled up with a straight. I ended up with about 9k in chips. That seemed to be the hand that made the difference. It was early in the tourney, but I needed a nice pot to stick around. Before I knew it, I was almost in the money. Next thing I know I'm on the final table. I was short stacked, really short stacked. I think I had about 17k in chips, and everyone one else on the table had 80k-150k in chips. The blinds had been through me twice and I needed to make a move. I was dealt Pocket Nines in first position. I pushed all in. I figured I'd get everyone on the table calling just to eliminate another player. Only the big blind called, and the nines held up. I kept playing tight and before I knew it we were down to 4, and then two of the players went out. On to heads up.

The villian had about 5x as many chips as I did.

I figured it would be an uphill battle, but then I noticed something. Anytime he made a bet, he'd bet 50k and it was after the flop. So, If I called I'd risk 56k, or if I folded, I'd just be out 6k. So I just waited, and I managed a couple of time to take advantage of this and all of a sudden I was the chip leader.

The memorable hand, I was dealt King 5 off suit. Flop comes KK6. I had top set. He checks, I check behind him. Turn is a 3 of clubs. Now there is a flush draw. He bets 100k, I raise all-in hoping he didn't make a flush, He calls. Now I see I'm the lead. He only has a pair of 6's-he's drawing dead. And just to finish him off, the river is another 6. I've made the nuts.

So, I managed to outplay 345 other players. What does a feat of this earn someone? One point four....

No, that isn't in millions. Yes that's right. One dollar and forty cents. It was a freeroll tourney.
