The real deal....

So there I was…. I was caught in the mist of the jungle with only one clip remaining and gunfire everywhere… My legion was nowhere to be- Wait, wait, wait. Wrong story - but probably a good one.

Poker is a great game. It’s a game of skill, style, problem solving, pattern matching, statistics/odds, and of course deception. Lots of things in poker can be related to everyday life, and vice versa. That’s probably why I like it.

No, I’m not going to make a huge habit of posting things about poker on my blog, as that would just become lame. But I do have another poker tale to share. /disclaimer

Let’s try that again: So there I was…

…deciding to enter a *real* multi table tourney this time, instead of those teaser free rolls. This tourney was a speed tourney with 121 people and the blinds increased every 3 minutes which makes the game play very aggressive. The fourth hand of the game, I managed to make aces full of 3’s full house, and doubled up. I took the same approach as I did the last game and tried to be patient. The game moved fast and people were dropping out left and right. Of course things slowed down just before the last two tables remained. This tourney paid out the top 18 spots. I managed to make it to the money. People started making their moves after they were in the money, hoping to double up or just bust out and get something back. I waited. Before I knew it, again, it was down to three people. I had managed to steal the blinds about 2 times in a row being on the button, and the third time I was dealt AK. I pushed all in. The small blind called. He had pocket nines. I managed to flop the nuts – Broadway, or a straight to the ace.

Two hands later, I had 10, 9 and I pushed all in, my adversary called with 9,8. He was dominated. I won the hand, and took first in the tourney. I managed to turn a $3.30 entry fee into $109 bills. Not a bad ROI , at least better than the whoping buck forty I won in the freeroll.
