Fuel Vent Line

I trimmed off the extra vent line, and bent the line upwards to as close to the skin as possible. If it were lower that would reduce the amount of fuel I could put in the tank as it would start to drain out the vent. Its about 1/16th of an inch away from the skin. I'll be putting some sealant on the tube and vent clip to hold everything in place tightly.

back on the other side it was time to install the AN nut, AN sleeve, and flare the tubing. Always install the sleeve and nut before flaring- otherwise you have to cut the flare off and redo it. Since this was the first actual real flare I've done, I managed to remember. More than likely I'll forget at some point in the project.

This is the flaring tool. Strangest looking tool I've seen, but it works great. The large wingnut on the top holds the dies together tight on the tube, and you just spin the threaded shaft on the right side until you feel a "slight" resistance. If you go past the "slight" point you end up with a flare that isn't round. It took me about 10 tries on some extra tubing to get the feel.

A beautiful flare.
